The Philippine Embassy in Egypt in cooperation with the Film Development Council of the Philippines, organized a film showing with the Filipino Community entitled, “NATIONAL HERITAGE MONTH: AN AFTERNOON OF FILIPINO MOVIES AT THE PHILIPPINE EMBASSY”.
The event featured two (2) films courtesy of the FDCP. The 2 films were In Paglayag: A Sulu Story (2020) by Rhadem Musawah and The Chanters (2017) by James Robin Mayo. The first movie is a short documentary about the washed away history of Sulu - its rise and fall, and how it was the center of the Filipino Moro nation. The second is a , a comedy-drama film about Sarah Mae, a 12 year old school girl, the grand-daughter of the last chanter of the Panay Bukidnon tribe.
The movies highlight the importance of knowing and appreciating one’s culture and heritage, and preserving them for the next generation.
