On 16 March 2025, the Philippine Embassy in Egypt hosted an Iftar with the the Filipino community in Cairo. The invitation was also extended to ambassadors of ASEAN countries based in Cairo as well as members of the media.
During his welcome speech, Ambassador Ezzedin Tago discussed the significance of having Iftar with the community. He stated that sharing a meal together provides the Embassy the opportunity to engage with the Filipino community. At sunset, some of the attendees participated in the community prayer. Thereafter, guests enjoyed popular dishes from Mindanao such as beef rendang, pastil, chicken piaparan, and daral.
The event was attended by 180 guests which included Filipino-Egyptian families, students and other Muslim members of the community.
