On 17 March 2024, the Philippine Embassy in Cairo together with the other embassies of the member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)- Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam- hosted a joint Iftar at the Diplomatic Club in downtown Cairo.
Ambassador Lufti Rauf of Indonesia, as chairperson of the ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC), welcomed the guests and provided a background on ASEAN and the ACC.
In attendance were around 111 guests composed of Muslim Heads of Missions, officials from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other Egyptian ministries, Al Azhar University representatives, members of the media, as well as staff and families of the ASEAN embassies. END.
